Inside the new Dashdrop business dashboard: what we built and why.

Business owners told us they needed more than order tracking. They needed a tool that helped them understand their customers, manage their menus, and forecast demand. So we built one.

For the first eighteen months of Dashdrop's life, business partners had one view: a simple order list. It told them what had been ordered and whether it had been delivered. Useful, but not enough.

After interviewing 34 business partners across Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu, we identified three things they consistently asked for: customer insights, menu performance data, and demand forecasting. The new business dashboard, launched in April 2025, is our answer to all three.

Customer insights shows partners their repeat customer rate, average order value by segment, and which neighbourhoods their orders come from. Menu performance ranks every item by order volume, revenue, and return rate — so a restaurant can see at a glance that their nyama choma has a 68% repeat rate but their grilled tilapia has just 22%.

Demand forecasting is the feature partners told us would save them the most time. By analysing historical order patterns and local events, it provides a day-by-day demand estimate for the next two weeks. Early feedback from beta users suggests it has reduced food waste by around 15%.
